Musiques du monde / Musique traditionnelleIndex. décimale : 780.11 Ethnomusicologie Résumé : In this book the Hungarian ethnomusicologist Balint Sarosi, author of Gypsy Music (Corvina Press, 1978), presents folk music to the general reader, that part of musical culture that lies outside notation. He describes thoroughly its various forms, uses, the history of its collection, and how it has led to its values position today. The present situation of folk music, and its problems, are fully discussed.
This music cannot be divided into composers and periods, but instead can be classified broadly according to various peoples, bearing as it does the marks of communities both large and small. On the surface it is a musical treasure as multifarious as mankind itself, but in essence it is both homogeneous and international.
The way paved by Bartok and Kodaly seems to be the best one to follow for Hungarians; and the subject dealt with in this book has turned the Hungarian public towards the common heritage of mankind.
The author's combination of a scholarly approach and an easy style ensures the book's appeal to musicians and music-lovers alike.Permalink : https://biblio.imep.be/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=5722 Folk Music : Hungarian Musical Idiom [texte imprimé] / Bálint Sárosi (1925-****), Auteur ; Maria Steiner, Traducteur . - Budapest : Corvina, 1986 . - 188 p. : ill., mus. ; 24 cm.
